ADMISSION

School Scholarship

GET A SCHOLARSHIP FOR THE EDUCATION OF YOUR CHILDREN !

School Scholarships for the benefit of French children residing with their families abroad.

The French State offers scholarships via the AEFE to French families whose income would justify additional aid. Thus, the list of documents to be provided changes according to the family situation. It is necessary to check each year the information concerning the scholarship campaigns relayed and supervised by the school. Indeed, we support the families throughout the process, in particular by ensuring the link with the French Consulate in New Delhi (responsible for examining the files).

Please find below all the information provided by AEFE regarding school scholarships:

Formulation of the request

At EFIK, we ensure that the files are complete and we take care of the transmission of these to the French Consulate in New Delhi.

WHEN ?

The application must be submitted within the deadlines set by the diplomatic or consular post; communicated by the school.

HOW ?

Complete the application form available from the French educational establishments abroad in question. In this case, with the administration of the EFIK.

The request must be accompanied by supporting documents of the family’s resources and standard of living. The list of documents to be produced is set by each position.

In the absence of production of all the requested documents, the request will be adjourned (after the first consular council) or rejected.

WHAT ?

The tuition fees likely to be covered by the scholarships are as follows:

  • Annual tuition fees, annual registration fees, first registration fees.
  • Half-board costs, school transport (collective or individual depending on the local situation), maintenance costs corresponding to the purchase of textbooks or school supplies (if they are not included in the tuition fees), boarding, school insurance, registration and transportation to exams.

Allocation rules

  • A family quotient net of tuition fees is calculated for each family.
  • Single-parent families: the income taken into account is that of the parent in charge of the child.

Reminders

  • The application for scholarships is independent of the procedure for enrolling your children in establishments. Don’t forget to complete the registration process.
  • The scholarship application must be renewed each year and submitted according to the fixed schedule. Any request submitted after the deadline for submitting applications is, except in cases of force majeure, rejected.
  • The awarding of scholarships abroad is, except in specific situations, incompatible with the receipt of social benefits in France.
  • Any inaccurate or incomplete declaration is likely to lead to the exclusion of the scheme.
  • The scholarships granted are paid to the establishments which retrocede certain extra-curricular scholarships to the families.

Instructions for the request

  • Consular services assess the applicant’s family situation and the family’s resources with regard to the allocation scale. Account is also taken of their movable and immovable assets.
  • They also ensure the compatibility of declared income and the standard of living of the family. A social inquiry (home visit) can be carried out by the consular post at any time.
  • After examination, the applications are presented to a consular board of scholarships, competent for each consular district. The main representatives of the French community sit there (elected representatives of French people living abroad, cultural advisers, representatives of establishments, trade union organizations representing teaching staff, parent-teacher associations, associations of French people living abroad, etc).
  • The proposals made by this body are then sent to the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE), which decides on their final allocation after consulting the National Commission for School Grants.

Decision

  • The notification of attribution or rejection of your application, by the AEFE, is made by the consular post.
  • The rejection of your request after the first consular council, can be subject, on request, to a review in the second council.
  • In the event of rejection after the second consular council, an informal appeal may be submitted in writing to the director of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE) via the consular post.
  • A non-contentious appeal can then be contested with the administrative court of Paris within a period of 2 months extended by 2 additional months of distance.
